What is SETA?
SETA is an acronym for Sector Education and Training Authority. With the establishment of the new government in 1994, the Departments of Labour and Education met to find a solution to the lack of formal education opportunities amongst the previously disadvantaged population group. The industry was divided into 23 sectors and each sector was given a SETA. Over the years these SETA’s have bridged the gap identified by Labour and Education.
What are the benefits of SETA accreditation?
• Training courses carry weight because they are accredited by SETA - an external body.
• The company receiving training from the training provider, can claim the expense back from the Skills Development levy fund.
• Learners who complete an accredited training course are registered on the national skills database (NLRD) and can work towards a full qualification.
• Organisations using accredited training companies earn BEE points.
• Training providers can use their SETA logo on their marketing material
• Accreditation gives a training provider more credibility.
What is a unit standard?
Diplomas and certificates have been divided into the smallest possible collection of criteria. This criteria is the minimum standard that all accredited training providers must adhere to. A unit standard is awarded credits and is set on different levels on the National Qualification framework. A learner who completes a number of unit standards through an accredited training provider can obtain a certificate or a diploma.
What is our role in getting you accredited?
We do everything you require for accreditation (see Our Services page)
What is your role in getting accreditation?
Your role can be as big or as small as you want it to be. Some providers already have most of the documentation; some providers like to assist with the process; some providers prefer not to have any part in the process as it distracts from their core business, therefore they leave it up to us to finalise.
